HMS Bristol

M.O.D. Black Water Tanks

The HMS Bristol was being converted to a training and accommodation ship for the UK MOD and an upgrade of the black water tanks was required. She was to be moored permanently at Whale Island Portsmouth as a training facility.

OUR SOLUTION

Baymarine Services and Chemco were chosen to carry out this task. The Baymarine team high pressure blasted the black water tanks to WJ3 standard because grit blasting was not permitted.

Because Chemco RS500P was approved, Chemco RA500M was chosen as the top coat for the job as it has great chemical resistance and solvent free properties. As this project was taking place in an area with very strict marine conservation policies, these Chemco top coats were ideal as they met the requirements of the local authorities.
